Refelction #2
1. A learning community is a large or small group that collaboratively work together to better themselves. In the aspect of teachers, teachers work together to collaborate new ideas and discuss their teaching together to better themselves as teachers. Teachers can exchange what has worked and what hasn't worked in the classroom to better those around them. If a lesson worked great, a teacher can share that lesson with his/her colleagues so they can use the idea to help their students understand material better. It is not only helpful for teachers, but students as well.
2. There are many benefits when it comes to learning communities. Teachers benefit greatly from this because they are able to broaden their techniques with the help of other teachers. It allows teachers to get out of the classroom and create and discuss new and upcoming ideas for teaching students. Teachers are able to work together to form these ideas, which is something that is not offered in every school. I think it is great for teachers to collaborate their ideas together to better not only themselves but their students. Students also benefit from learning communities because it allows them to expand their knowledge on what the teacher has to teach them. They will learn in many different ways and this allows them to go into the classroom with an open mind.
3. Overall, there are no bad affects on teachers in the learning community. It allows teachers to communicate on a different level than they are probably used to, which I believe is an excellent idea! Teachers spend most of their days bundled up in the classroom so this gives them the opportunity to get out of the classroom and have a discussion with their colleagues for once. It allows teachers to learn what they might not know. A good learning community allows teachers to have the great communication they need in their lives!
4. The affect that students have on learning communities is that is requires them to live and participate in the real world. It helps students develop the life skills that they need to conquer and survive in the real world. It teachers students great communication and problem solving skills. Students must work together in their classrooms to gain the knowledge they need to properly succeed in the real world. Teachers are a great support system to help the students achieve what they must to do so.
5. In order for a learning community to succeed, teachers must have an open mind about it. They must share their vision with each other. They need to share a vision of the conditions they must create to achieve the mission. They must work together in collaborative teams to determine the best practice to achieve the mission. Teachers must also focus on student learning. Student learning is essential because that is what teachers are there for, to teach students how to learn. Overall, teachers must keep an open mind when sharing ideas so that everything can be successfully completed.
6. Learning community is exactly what our class represents. The entire semester we are working together in groups, collaborating our ideas together to construct one large project. We all must work equally together to succeed at the final project. It will be tough at times to work all together with so many ideas being put on the table, but we have to learn to work together and try to use all of the great ideas that we come up with.
